Nature Therapy

Nature Therapy is an experiential therapeutic approach that takes place in nature and is grounded in the relationship and dialogue between humans and the natural world.

The method was developed and conceptualized in Dr. Ronen Berger’s doctoral dissertation (2008), and further elaborated in his books and numerous articles. It has been implemented on a national level in programs Dr. Berger developed for Israel’s Ministry of Education, Ministry of Welfare, and the Community Stress Prevention Center. His co-authored book with Prof. Mooli Lahad, The Healing Forest, presents a protocol-based group therapy program that combines Nature Therapy and the arts to support children who have experienced crisis. The book has gained international recognition and has been translated into English, Polish, Ukrainian, and Chinese. The therapeutic model it offers is now used worldwide.

Nature Therapy was taught in the professional training programs Dr. Berger established and led at Tel-Hai College and Tel Aviv University until 2015, when he stepped down to found the MA program in Drama Therapy at Ono Academic College. Since then, the method has continued to be taught in various settings by graduates of these original training programs.

Today, Dr. Berger teaches Nature Therapy in one-time workshops, professional conferences, and training programs in Israel and abroad.
